This book has quite a few typos; I would say that the typos can distract from the information presented & may even change the meaning of it. I have noticed answers in the practice test that are incorrect (the book will say a letter is a correct answer, but the explanation will be supporting a different answer choice-- the right answer). The presentation of the material is a bit confusing as well. The book seems to contradict itself throughout chapters. I would use this book very carefully; make sure you are verifying the information. To be completely honest, reading through this study guide has been more of a test, since I have discovered so much incorrect information.

The books are very nice as they open up a more knowledge with well explained
answers to each question. Is not about knowing the answers but understanding
the reasons for the answers.
I just got back from taking the CHES exam. While the book does a wonderful job of going over the content the exam "says" it contains, it appears that there are different versions of the exam and that CHES is going very much into contracting with outside agencies, managing employees and volunteers and public health rather than true health education. The book is great, but I can't say so much for CHES itself in terms of organization and practice.
There are some editing mistakes in this book, and one of the book answers to the practice test indicated the wrong answer, but I passed my test, so obviously it worked well enough for a pass.
I felt like it helped me. Passed exam easily 7 years after earning Health Education degree in which I had forgotten a lot of that "textbook" info. I still use it to refer to things in my career and use as a prep for interviews.
As a Health Behavior Science student, I really did not need a detailed guide to CHES exam material since I have plenty of class notes, however, I have found that this book is poorly written. It is disorganized, for example, on page 45, it will explain validity and reliability, then pages later at page 51 explain it again but in a different way. If you can get past the horrible writing and disorganization of the book, it might be a good tool to inform you of the most pertinent topics that are covered on the exam.

I am definitely NOT going to rely on this as a comprehensive study guide for the exam. We will see how well I fare for the exam in a few weeks...

If you are somebody who needs a lot of detailed information, do NOT buy this book! Just buy the more expensive one directly from the CHES exam makers!!!
I have found 3 questions in the back that are wrong. The list the answer with the wrong multiple choice answer. I have also found spelling and grammatical errors believe it or not. I like a practice test but this book is very expensive, and appears to have missed a proofreading stage. The text itself is repetitive in several parts. Unfortunately, they seem to have the market on this book. I do not recommend it. They shipped the book fast, it has a practice exam, but its outdated and has errors. Not what you want in a prep book.
I passed my CHES exam first time up, but I don't think this book really helped much. I would recommend finding a book with more practice exam questions, and using the NCHEC study guide, which isn't riddled with grammatical errors.
Also, it seems like some of the material in this product differs slightly from what is presented in the NCHEC-approved materials.

I can't bash this book too much, as I only read through it a couple of times before my exam. Not the worst way to spend 40 bucks, but probably unnecessary in the end.
This book has quite a few typos; I would say that the typos can distract from the information presented & may even change the meaning of it. I have noticed answers in the practice test that are incorrect (the book will say a letter is a correct answer, but the explanation will be supporting a different answer choice-- the right answer).
